Monster Art Show & Contest – Selby Public Library
October 20th, 2014 – November 21st, 2014
Create a monster portrait and become a published artist in an ebook on the ISSUU website. Portraits will be on display from October 20th through November 21st in the Selby Public Library Teen Center. Entrants must be between the ages of 13 and 18 and must use a Roylco portrait blank (available at the youth desk of Selby Public Library) or any 8.5 x 11 size medium. This is a juried show and prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for qualified entries. All artists will receive a certificate of participation. Entries must be received by October 20th. Call 861-1130 for further information. Entries will be accepted on any day, at any time during library hours at the youth desk.

“Sarasota Zombie Quarantine” is Friday, Oct. 31, 2014. Tickets on sale now!!!! Zombies are taking over Siesta Key!!!!! The one, the only, the original Sarasota Zombie Crawl comes from its fitful slumber on Friday, Oct. 31! This is a 21+ event so please make sure everyone has proper identification to enter each venue. Please drink responsibly! Dont drinks & drive, stay on the key & please be cordial to everyone! At 6:00pm we will meet at Daiquiri Deck located at 5250 ocean blvd. Dressed in our finest zombie attire. If you are not wanting to do your own makeup we will have professional make up artists working for donations on site for everyone that registers or has a pre-sale ticket. Professional make up wil l be by first come first serve, and we are asking for a minimum $20 donation for that service. At 9:00pm the zombie festivities will start at Daiquiri Deck. Every zombie will receive a complementary cocktail with their “Passport” and party all the way till 10:30pm At 10:30 pm the zombies will walk over Skob. Every zombie will receive a complementary cocktail & no cover with their “Passport”. At 12:00am the zombies will walk over Gilligans. Every zombie will receive a complementary cocktail & no cover with their “Passport”. The crawl will finish at Gilligans where we will have a Ca$h costume contest (cash and prizes). Held every four years, this exciting international event for breast cancer survivors is run under the auspices of the IBCPC. The 2014 event is the first to happen in the US! Hosted by two Florida BCS teams, The Pink Dragon Ladies® of Tampa and Save Our Sisters® of Miami, are eager to greet you and make your experience in the Sunshine State memorable!
